Well today Nicole and I set out to Banyule and Yarra Flats to go bird spotting. The weather looked magnificant, was a bit of a chill but it wasn't unbearable. We arrived and set off, just following the trail of birds singing. We were first greated by the Willy Wag Tail. I'm not entirely sure where we went in Banyule Flats or Yarra Flats, but it was pretty damn nice. Saw probably about 20+ different type of birds:
 Willy Wagtail
Fairy Wren and Superb Fairy Wren
 Spotted Pardalote
 Red Browed Firetail Finch
 Eastern Shrike Tit
 New Holland Honeyeater
 White Faced Heron
 Dotterol
 Easter Yellow Robin
 Grey Fantail
 Mistletoebird
 Gallahs
Just to name a few. Nicole can probably fill you in more on some of the other birds we saw. Those are just the ones I remember.
Here are a couple of the shots I've processed already.
Taken with the Sigma 100-300 EX APO with 1.4tc (borrowed from Nicole).

Yeah it did. Still not enough though. 420MM focal length was great on the Fairy Wren. Could of done with another 400-600MM though on top. The original image has a lot of wasted crop space, which is wasted subject detail space. Darryl (aka Kipper)Nikon D200

They are really nice pics! That fairy-wren is great. I missed it...too busy changing cards. It sure was a great place for the birds. A few others I just checked up were White-plumed Honeyeater, Eastern Spinebill and Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike.

Yep, I got a photo of the White Plumed Honeyeaster. Wasn't 100% sure on the ID, so was going to ask you first. Darryl (aka Kipper)Nikon D200

kipper - well done. I personally prefer the second shot, water ripple with reflection is so .
It is good to see that you and Nicole went out, had a fun day. Also you had the opportunity to use someone else's equipment, Sigma 100-300 EX APO + TC1.4.fozzie
When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.

 Yeah, I'd like to have a 600MM / 800MM to play around with for a day or a 500MM with 1.7tc Darryl (aka Kipper)Nikon D200

Really like the second one with the reflection. I like any form of animal/bird shot but the reflection gives the image so much more interest... Aka Andrew

Here's a photo of a Spotted Pardalote (possibly juvenile) that was hanging above the tree that we were watching.
