Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

He was last seen carrying a mattress salvaged from the side of the street, on his way home after an exhaustive first day in NYC.

I've tried his contact number, only to get "the phone you are calling is out of range or turned off".
Srsly Wendell, I hope you've achieve the goals for the shoots you set out to do, that fashion week was good to you, and hopefully you're on your way to NZ now.
Here's one for critique:

Darkened, upped the contrast and removed the colour.
If it's no good, it was Wendell's idea.
(I'm also trying out a new photo sharing website Zoomr, tell me if something's broken or not working)
EDIT - Greg B
First image coded so we can see it.

Over a hundred views and no one cares to share anything at all? That's disappointing.

Chi,
glad to see you back from NYC, hope you had a great time.
To me the second photo certainly has potential but on my calibrated monitor, it is too dark. The b&w treatment suits it but get a bit more detail in the bottom half.
As for Wendell, he's probably still asleep
Cheers,
André

Seems like you guys had a wonderful time in NYC, on that small mattress...
The 2nd shot is very moody but bit dark to my taste...
I wonder if Wendell carried that mattress back to syd...

I think the second shot is too dark but that is the point. A viewer is not always intended to feel comfortable by a shot. To me it could show a massive oppressive power of "the man" over the doomed men of the NY streets, with a light sky promising something unreachable (draw any conclusion you like). Without this tonality it would just be another shot - no point.

Chi, try coding your images so that we can see them. We don't use < and > here, we use [ and ]
like this
That will help enormously. I have coded the first shot in your post, check it out.

Thanks Greg, that's an insightful comment - as I've set HTML to be displayed (under profile, preferences) under my account, so the images are immediately viewable by me - but if they weren't viewable under forum defaults, that would mean 110 ppl clicked to view this thread, saw nothing and didn't leave feedback saying so.
I didn't care for the style of the second shot either. I agree with all those who've mentioned it was too dark. Heath certainly wrote an artistic description; however I'm not that deep...
Funny story re: Wendell's mattress - after dinner we escorted him back to his lower east side apt. About 4 blocks out, we spotted a wall of mattresses looking fairly clean and sleepable. He picked one up and started carrying it as we walked. About half a block out from his apt, he gives up and tosses the mattress by the side of the road. I'm sure he'll chime in with his side of the story, but he was tired, jetlagged and acting very much like a drunk that I had to take a pic to prove it happened if he tried to deny it.

I agree that the second is a little too dark for me. I like it though and think that some selective brightening would really work well!
