Boston Afternoon

Hey All,

Well Katie and I made it safe and sound to Boston, but not without a few dramas, lost some items in transit (nothing too important thank goodness). And still suffering badly from Jetlag, but I thought I'd share an image or too from our first day in Boston.

Image
Faneuil Hall backlit by the afternoon sun, I tried to get the sun behind the spire, but I had too many trees in the way.

Image
These lovely girls were in period dress, I stopped and had a quick chat, and took their photo. They weren't paid, or advertising anything just spending their Saturday letting people about the history of Boston. Had I had my time again, I would of asked them to pose infront of a more period fitting location (there was a old post office just around the corner.

Image
These two (there is a person in the coffin) where advertising Spooky Ghost Tours of Boston. I cropped for dramatic affect.

Image
Snapshot ish but I liked this shot as it showed how big the crowds where in context. This was the first nice weekend in 5 months, so everyone was out and enjoying.

love the last one Craig. Really shows the cityscape of Boston nicely.

Personally I prefer seeing shots of buildings of cities at a ground level rather than as a cityscape. Gives more of an idea what the place is actually like.

Thanks Wayne, I almost didn't throw the last shot in there, I'm glad I did now. I've certainly got plenty of photos of the buildings etc, as its such an interesting mix of architecture.

Are they still in Patriots Day regalia? That would be great to see in a City such as Boston! Very envious, for more than one reason :P Specially considering the Red Sox are playing the Yankees there this week and Fenway!

For the record I really like the atmosphere in number 1, something that hasn't been seen in Boston for a bit by the sounds :)

Looks like you've put your weekend to good use! Just don't work too hard during the week!!

Was some concern this morning that we allowed you two on the same plane, the office would be doomed if we lost you both!!

I agree with Piro. Really dig the last one. Gives me an idea what the city is like. Are you planning on going to the ghost tour by any chance? Tell us if your camera stops working.

Thanks for the feedback, Geoff I had to get in early, as from today till Friday it's nearly all work work work. We do have a few of us going to a Baseball Game, Red Sox vs Blue Jays..

Sadly I want meant to have gone to last nights game, where a record equalling 4 Home Runs were made back to back, and they were huge home runs. It was also the first time in 17 years the Redsoxs have Cleansweeped the Yankees at Fenway Park, so a bit bummed that I didn't end up going (tickets where 5-7 times as expensive) so just couldn't justify the cost.

But I digress, still after any CC good or bad, while I have time left I'd like to improve on my shots.. got to use the old Benro.. haven't had a chance yet.

Was good to see them get up and get the cleansweep! Love to see them do that to the Yankees! Shame that Damon is now lead off hitter for the Yankees though. My wife is an avid Red Sox fan ;) We watched the game last night (the third game in the series on ESPN).

Can't wait to see some more photos from your stay there. I'd love to live there but my wife thinks it is too cold ;)

It was 29 degrees here today, it felt otherworldly compared to the Boston I know (last time we were here in late Oct and it was COLD to aussie standards).
