Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

There's a lot to like here Bernie. The contrast between sky and ocean lovely complementary tones. I also love the sense of depth and place created by the sails.
I think Bernie that the motor boat and little dinghy on the left side tend to draw the eye out of frame partly their shape difference to the rest of the subjects and their angling out of frame. They just seem incongruent with rest of image. I experimented cropping the frame at right so equal space showing on both left and right edges of frame with motorboat and dinghy gone and to my eye the shot hangs together much better IMHO.
I also think the straight object on the horizon to the right of the main foreground sailboat also tends to hijack the eyes with a what is it question. Cloning it out balances the scene. :) Gorgeous image.

You're right Bernie  After I read the title again and using my very limited sailing knowledge along with what you said I realised my faux pas
Perhaps another way of putting it could be Marco you have 'missed the boat' or still yet I see how cropping the motorboat out could create another image all together less frenetic than a race perhaps :)
I still love the image though Bernie.
cheers

Lovely image Bernie. I like the crop as is, it tells the story. Colours are just great, they make me want to relax and have a beer.
