......thanks all...... well just let me say that 5 hours later, over 450 exposures, lots of looking at the computer, there you go...... sometimes you can get great results in 10 minutes......

large incense stick....... but small ones work also..... just light your smoke from behind, flash at an angle of 45o and a black background...... invert in photoshop and play with curves or the RAW converter to swing the colors

Thanks for the info Big Pix, so I assume you are using the flash in command mode in order to get the rear lighting?
NO....... 2 x Elinchrom 1000 studio heads dialed down to 300 ws, with medium sized reflectors with defusers....... black reflectors either side of camera and a little in front of lens to stop any flash flare Cheers ....bp....
