Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I had an hour or two to spare this afternoon so went to Eastern Creek to watch pratice for tomorrows St George Bike club meet.

#1 looks a bit underexposed to me Jeff, were these with the D200? I ask as it has very conservative metering where highlights are concerned... Otherwise they look spot on. :up:

To reiterate what trent said, yes i'm finding the D200 is a but scared of blowing the highlights... I love the compensation dial for correcting this :)

The rider in #1 is a bit scary. Riding at that speed with your eyes closed. :shock:
They all look gret to me Jeff. Was it cloudy for the first pic?

Thanks guys.
These were taken with the D200. The learning curve is a bit steep,and my keeper rate is not as high as with the D70. I guess more practice is needed. I find when they are good they are very sharp with good detail but there are a lot more soft images than sharp.

Hi Kyle
I have played with a few settings can't decide which is best ,any advice.
Currently AF-C Dynamic Area ,normal 11 area focus frame,1/closest subject, lock on normal. I think I have fiddled so much that now I am confused.
Could you tell what focus settings you use.

I'll mostly use the wide centre point for panning cars, seems to work ok for bikes for me also.

Wide areas are great! :)

Looks like you've got the framing well under control while panning - all are quite good, but #3 stands out.

Jeff, These are not bad pics and dont worry too much about the D200 mate as when i brought 1 of these for my mate and i took to Moto GP i found my shots were crap, almost the same as when i first picked the D2x up after using the D70 but will come to you in time.

Great photos, nice and tight. Panning is also very good. Can I ask what type of shutter speeds and what focal lenght of lens were you using. Well done, there excellent. :D

The lens used is a Nikon 300 f4 and shutter speed varies between 200 and 320, thanks for your comments.
