Thank you Bruce for your contribution which you have made to the difference of Indigenous people throughout the world.

Bruce I got your concerns regarding the framing and thank you for your point of view. The difference your support has made to the Indigenous people has been fantastic.

Your contribution in saving eyesight has made a huge difference to almost 140 indigenous people, a difference to a community at large of 5,000 to 6000 people, ie. Their friends, relatives, neighbors, etc.

A community of 140 people are now living a life of happiness and wonderment in regaining their eyesight, perhaps seeing a grandchild or even great grandchildren, or seeing something as simple as a spider on a tree, which would never have happened, if not for the generous support of yourself and the photographers who gave generously, and the continuing work of The Fred Hollows Foundation.

Bruce, even when I was being such a ‘fusspot’ around how the photographs should look and although the frames came into existence. The outcome is that ‘eyesight’ was saved. I’m sure you and the photographers have got to be happy about that.

The remaining images have been idle for a little while now. I have been approached by a friend involved to make available the prints for a fund raiser to support the preservation of Orangutans.

I'm sure the good hearts in this forum will support this, but I wanted to check with the group of kind individuals first...

I would like to provide our prints to the organiser, Jennifer, so they may raise funds via silent auction, at a cocktail party.

You are also welcome to attend the fund raising cocktail party in St Kilda, $50 per person, Monday, 19th march, 7pm. Live music, auctions, fun and laughter...

Orangutans are in crisis. They face a multitude of severe threats such as the illegal pet trade, exploitation and now their latest enemy, forest clearing and burning to make way for expanding oil palm plantations. At this rate, orangutans will soon be extinct if rainforests continue to be cleared to make way for oil palm plantations.

My name is Jennifer Croes and I am a representative of BOS Australia. BOS is a non-for-profit organisation working towards the conservation of orangutans and their ecosystems. It primarily works to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned orangutans subject to the illegal pet trade, exploitation and who have been displaced as forest refugees due to the constant forest clearing fires. These amazing creatures have been abused, tortured and lost their habitat. BOS works with local Indonesian people to educate and empower them to make a positive change.

Nyaru Menteng rescues orangutans and facilitates their reintroduction back to their natural habitat secured by BOS, to resume normal lives. However, the centre is at crisis point!
The project manager of Nyaru Menteng, Lone Droscher-Nielsen, has requested urgent assistance from BOS Australia to aid in the development of an enrichment program. With over 600 orangutans, the centre is bursting at the seams due to the recent influx of orangutans recently admitted after the Kalimantan forest fires. It is heavily over-populated and needs financial assistance. Those are that are safely released are the lucky ones, yet, unfortunately, a large number remain at the Centre.

We are currently seeking corporate partnerships to assist us with the development of an Orangutan Enrichment program. This entails building new quarantine cages, and modifying all enclosures. The enrichment program will be designed to provide physically and mentally stimulating environments. This will be achieved by designing a dynamic program of enriching activities.
We are also hosting a fundraising cocktail party to raise funds to purchase medical supplies and support the enrichment program.
