Mandarin MacroTook this macro in late afternoon sun yesterday. I think this is as good as my el cheapo Tamron 70-300mm can do, it's fairly soft, no it's almost always soft, I backed off the lens magnification and I think I like the effect here, no PS work done. Comments welcomed. Ozi.

Thanks Wendell, it takes a great many shots with a cheap lens to get a decent image, but it is possible.

Nice pictureIt is a very lovely picture, Ozi, although as you said it is not very sharp, But, I like it any way because it looks very natural and has lovely colours.
Here you are Oscar, rotated and slightly Photoshopped, including too much sharpening most probably.

Oscar, the second one somehow is better, not sure why, it's not even as soft (as in nicely soft), but the portrait is better IMHO. Many thanks.

both look good to me max, with a slite lean towards one.
i like your avatar also max what brand of bike is it and do you ride it cheers pa
Love both shots Max. Really nice work. I wouldn't be apologising for what the lens can't do but, rather, celebrating what it can.

Hey Pa, It's a Suzuki V Strom 650 and no I don't own one. Would like to though! Spent last June in northern Michigan riding a friend's 1200 Harley Sportster, I'm not a great Harley fan but it was a fun bike to cruise around on. Haven't had a bike for a few years now, am getting the bug again to do some touring and the V Strom 650 would fit the bill nicely. Maybe I could sell the camera gear...and a couple of the kids ![]() President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Actually Pa, I've heard and read that the V Strom 650 is a sensational bike. I know this is off topic, but maybe there's a few DSLRusers out there who could enlighten me further as to the capabilities of this bike?

Ozimax, a beautiful tender image. Great looking in both orientations and the lens works a treat making the hands it's cradled in here the most important quality factor

You are right! The second image is shaper than the first and strangely appealing, although it does not seem to follow the famous rule of thirds.
Beautiful shot Ozi, like the landscape best.
Vtwins are an absolute joy to ride after an in line4. Sell the kids otherwise they will want to ride your bike when they grow up and you can't take pictures of it without a camera. Craig Craig
