DNA staircase

On the way back to our car in Darlinghurst tonight we walked past the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, which has this massive staircase (I think) replicating the DNA structure. I shot it:

Geoff, well spotted. The verticals do show  but taken with a tripod could go on the wall. Love the B&W

The vertical on the left catches your attention, maybe time for a perspective correction lens to go on your D200 or similar software? :D

Cor, what a great looking staircase.
Nice shot Geoff. The black and white accentuates the shapes.

It reminds me of the staircase built by Joesph the carpenter in that church (brazil perhaps, the exact location escapes me). Built entirely out of wood, spirals without any visible means of support.

Nice shot Geoff, might go and visit that structure myself.

Thanks Matt,
This was taken through glass and I was surprised that it came out as well as it did. I desperately wanted to get in and take some more shots earlier in the day but the big security dude kinda scared me off somewhat, I might return there one day. Heck I work on the campus, should be fine eh!? :)

Geoff, since you work there bring a tripod :) Dont' let the security guy scare you off or affect your work ;)

I can see that the shot has lots of potential but might just need a bit more timing in the execution, then again it has that nice grit to the shot which may not be recreated if you spent more time...

Nice shot Geoff, the B&W treatment looks good. No wonder it's at the Victor Chang Institute, if I tried to climb that they would have to be standing by with the defibrillator!

Could be an alpha helix from a protein structure too Geoff, either that or an A- or B-DNA double helix.

Wally - it stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid which is the genetic structure of which we are all made up of. For more info talk to Trent :D He's the master at this stuff.

And we would have had some serious concerns about Geoff's photographic tastes.
