Does it work, or doesn't it work? Not sure what it is about the pic, but keeps drawing me to it.

Natural lightWas trying to play around with natural lighting yesterday and came up with this.

Come follow the rabbit hole...
Lighting is superb with good details. The angle is okay, but I still find myself looking for the subject somewhat. Maybe a small ball or a "dropped teddy" on a stair would make it look really more moody or meaningful. I am still looking at it.

this is a good subject for selective colour.......one step, one brick
Cheers ....bp....
Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
I like the colours how they are, I think you nailed the exposure and the photo. A teddy would look good as colcam suggested but I also think that having the image sharp all the way through would help as well.
Cheers, Owen.
It depends entirely on what you are trying to do with the shot?
As a photo it leaves me pretty cold. If I took it I would be putting it up for sale on the stock library as it would make a good concept shot. Way to much photography gear is never enough!
As an exercise in natural lighting I think you have shown effects of this type of lighting well but I agree with Colcam in terms of adding a little drama or eye pulling power to the image with something on the stairs strategically placed
