This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

A few more from Waverly Cemetery, apologies if I posted any of these last time (they've all been reprocessed anyway :)). C&C welcome and appreciated

Patrick

I think #2 is a repost, but who cares it's a gorgeous pic - that said my favourite of these would have to be #3 - its wonderfully lit, has a great warm glow to it and a kind of ethereal beauty.

Bloody brilliant Patrick. I've got a few cemetery shots under my belt as well as some star trail images but I've never thought of combining the two. A great effect.

Pity the D70 only allows a thirty minute exposure - some full circle trails would be sweet!

These are fantastic, Partick. Well done. How long were the exposures?

Thanks for the comments :)

Alex, EXIF is intact, to save you clicking, #1 is 202 seconds, #2 is 262 secs, #3 is 422 seconds (7 minutes).

Simon, you'd need a serious ND filter if you wanted 30 minutes exposures in light-polluted Sydney, but it would certainly be a great effect 8). I need to buy a remote before doing anything longer, 7 minutes holding the shutter isn't much fun . I did have a 10 minutes exposure but it's a bit soft (not suprisingly).
So join in the chorus, and sing it one and all!

Yep - take your point about the light. The shots below have been posted here before and were taken in the Bunya Mountains, northwest of Brissy with minimal stray light. (Black as bat's bum actually). At one point, a car went past and I held my hand over the lens so the shot wouldn't be ruined. These were my first efforts and are crappy with a capital C. I'm looking forward to doing some more and getting better at it and the idea of using urban structures really appeals to me. Be good to give my ND8 a run at night!

The following were taken on two consecutive nights from different locations. First one, I think, was around 10 minutes and the second was 30 minutes. Remote used plus in-camera noise reduction, which, of course, takes another 10 minutes or 30 minutes respectively (same as your exposure time) to complete. Make sure your batteries are fully charged!!!

The structure is the top of a radio antenna tower - I wanted something for scale.

Patrick - these are all great, but #3 is a knockout - it really is. Maybe there should be a cemetry meet some time in the future? :)
