Peter - all beautiful but I think that 2nd one has elements to it that are extra ordinary. It's pure bliss watching your posts as your become a master of that D2X. The B&W conversion makes the ground appear to have snow on it, but that's not the case is it?

You and pharmer have mastered your new toys instantly - great work :D

I completely agree with Geoff - #1 & #3 are good, but #2 is just stunning, such a moody, atmospheric image.

If it was from the long weekend, it could well have been snow on the ground, it was freezing here in Sydney and was dumping snow over the Snowies :)

Edit: I love seeing you use the 10.5, it's so rare to see someone use a fish eye as anything other than a gimmick, let alone with the skill you have with that lens. The only downside is (of course)...lens lust

I actually quite like the warmth of the alternative to #1.

The second one is fantastic - really stunning, well done.

Lovely stuff Peter, for me it's definitely #2 the clear out and out best of the bunch, while the others are your usual high standard you've raised the bar with it, great work!

Thank you all for your comments. #2 is very much my fave of these, followed by #3 - and part of the credit for #2 must go to Leigh. We worked on the PP for this one together last night.

Patrick - not snow, just dirt (see colour version below). Thanks for the comment on the 10.5. I find it much more versatile than just being a special effects lens.

Geoff - ask and you shall receive (note - uncropped, whereas the B & W has been)

Nice conversion Peter - the B&W definately suits this image more than the colour one. Amazing too how the conversion makes it really look like snow too.

Very nice PP on #2 - the colour version is just plain boring whereas the B&W really works. #3 does nothing for me. I also like #1 just for the misty look.

Definitely the No. 2 shot is a natural winner. Beautifully cropped with great density and the subtle colour is great too. Impact plus. My kind of image. The first one has a nice soft glow to it though that I like. Tricky lighting sometimes in fog.
Be watching you. :D

The 2nd pic is sublime Pete! The b&w conversion extends the chilly atmosphere already created by the fog.

Peter,

Yet again, I'm replying to a series of your shots. Without doubt, you are producing some of the best shots (IMHO) on the forum of late.

I'm with the crowd so far, no. 2 is a classic (B & W version)

Cheers

This is a really odd thread for me. I liked #2 when I saw the original and knew straight off it needed a warmed B & W treatment. I spent much longer than usual on PP of this because I just couldn't get the contrast & colour right, but when I saw it finished I knew it worked, but didn't feel it was a standout shot. Yet that is the vibe I've got from this thread. Weird.
