Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Hey guys,

Heard about the forum and thought I'd sign up, from the quick browse I've had looks like I have plenty of reading to do.

Anyway I use a Nikon D70 with the kit lens & 70-200 VR primarily for drag racing photography and general automotive stuff.

Here's a few samples, I'd like to hear your guys comments opinions.

Hi Matt welcome to the forums, you seem to have a great skill with the car photography, some great shots you've posted I particularly like the 2 cars and a train shot, well done. Before anyone else says anything I'd check the horizon on the first shot, not sure it's straight (some, not I, are sticklers for straight horizons). Anyways hope you enjoy you stay, and perhaps familarize yourself with the posting guidelines, FAQ etc (for instance shots should be 800 pixel at there widest and preferably below 200k each, and only 4 shots per image review post) :) Welcome again!

WOW!

Great shots mate. Do you shoot professionally? Certainly your images appear to be good enough. You must have a great vantage point at the drags, like Jeff says it looks trackside.

Looks like you have a thing or two to teach us! :D

Hey Matt impressed with the shot of the Rail. Smokin! Tyres are burning.
How good is the 70-200? No comparison don't you think.

Nice shots - very detailed - I can tell, for instance, that holdens headlights are just stickers! never saw that before, not even in real life!

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll be sure to post new work regularly. The photos are from trackside as mentioned due to media access.

I do it more as a hobby, but I do sell prints and images to magazines when requested but I don't work for anyone as such.

The 70-200 is a gem, it never comes off my D70. 8)

Next on the list is a 1.7 TC as soon as I sell my SB800.

Cheers,
Matt

Definitely looking forward to more shots of this calibre from you, was it difficult for you to obtain the media pass ?

If you post the Sb-800 in the for sale section I'd imagine it would sell fairly quick, and if you stick around, you'll find there are some bargains available to members...

It took some nagging and started off at small meets only, then I slowly proved myself and now I'm on the "regulars" list I guess you could say.

I can't post the SB-800 cause I don't have enough posts which is fair enough so I popped it on eBay.

Thanks again.
