Depends what you were trying to achieve when you took the image. I prefer the B&W.
Steve.

The B&W works better for me, although I'd prefer a conversion that doesn't blow the sky completely. The high contrast suits it, I just want a bit of detail at the top left.

Thanks Steve and Patrick. I took it with a mono stock photo in mind and deliberately blew the sky for the added contrast. Given that mindset, I think I was always going to prefer the mono version but happy to ehar the opinions of others.
I'd love to have some dramatic clouds there but they're something of which we're in desparate short supply up here. (I could easily add some via PS but the stock site I use is pretty finnicky about manipulations) Simon

I had something more like this in mind. If you'd like me to take it down, let me know.
![]() I think for a stock shot then the original conversion would be more useful, as it leaves space for text or whatever. If you were to submit a colour version I'd try to pull the sky down (maybe blend 2 RAW exposures) and up the blue saturation. Edit: Ignore the ugly JPEG artifacting - I don't think it adds to the shot ![]() Last edited by rooboy on Sun May 07, 2006 8:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.

That looks good Patrick - much moodier than mine. I like. Thanks.

Thanks Marco, though I don't consider the composition anything remotely special! Simon
