Robber Fly?John (Oneputt) kindly loaned me his d2x for a couple of days so i can get a feel of the camera... my folks have offered to help me with my photography pursuit by wanting to sell a Vassilieff painting that they have and putting the proceeds towards a new camera (d2x or d200) so I asked John if i could borrow his camera one afternoon so i can get a feel for it...but instead he said i could borrow it for a couple of days.. I must say Iam extremely impressed with it.. ive only had time to take a few photos and will explore tomorrow with it a bit more.. the speed is insane... it freaks me out.. but feels super comfy in my hands.. and i actually like the weight of the beast... Anyways... quick attempt with the macro lens this afternoon with it.. pretty sure its a Robber Fly..

Tim, enjoy the loan and I look foward to seeing some more of your test shots. Good to hear your folks are getting behind you and encouraging your talent.
interesting contrast between nature and metal.......
wish my folks were that comitted to helping me with my photogrpahy ![]()
I'm kinda glad I don't have the oppertunity to touch a D2X!! I somehow don't think I'd settle for anything less... and my bank account won't allow for that....
Deposit for house.... D2X.... Deposit for house.... D2X.... Deposit for house.... D2X..... If given the oppertunity I know which one would win... and it wouldn't be the house ![]() ... But if my parents want to sell THEIR house so I can get a D2X... that would be cool. Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com
Living in poverty due to my addiction to NIKON... Is there a clinic that can help me?
Great shot, terrific detail and I like the subdued toning (which I assume is due to the highlights in the metal?)...
Handling stuff like a D2X is addictive like drugs, just more expensive... ![]() Aka Andrew
Thanks for the comments folks.. im pretty suprised my folks want to help me get better at photography.. especially since ive only been into it for 8 months..
Mudder, pretty sure its due to the wire.. im pretty damn happy with it! Matt, Fine Art Artist?? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tim D70 - D200/MBD200 Coming soon - Too Much Gear, Not Enough Talent

Wow Tim! fantastic opportunity for you - you'll certainly do a D2X credit from what I've seen of your pics. I'm soooo jealous
![]() I don't even want to try one... same reason as NikonUser LOL. How generous of John to lend you his for a couple of days, wonderful chance to have a play in your own time. Not the same at a shop. Take care of those great parents of yours. I'm sure they be as proud as punch of the results you'll get. Congrats Judy
Beautiful work, as usual Tim.
The best of tools are only at their best in the hands of a skilled operator and you do this piece of kit proud. John's an excellent judge of both character and talent and you score highly on both counts. An excellent shot - yes it is a Robber Fly. How cool are they? And quick too; they catch other flies in the air, impaling them with those nasty spines on their legs. Simon
