Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

G'day all,
Just got back from another photographic workshop with Tom Putt and Glen Campbell (I have no association with them), had a ball but only had a few hours kip last night, so I"m buggered, posted a couple and having an early night...
Spent Friday to today up at Mancefield, went to the classic places like Craig's hut, Sheepyard flats with Fry's hut, Mt. Buller summit etc...
Just posted a couple, Both merged/blended two exposure images, but wonderful light and witnessed an amazing sunset at the summit of Mt. Buller which I'll post later, wow, Spent most of time time in awe, just watching it... Amazing area to spend a week-end with a camera...
Critique requested please

EDITED: Forgot to mention, that's the shadow of the mountain you can see in the distance on the right hand side, looks like a dark triangle...

Sounds like you had a great trip. These first two, with more to come, are pretty amazing. That mountain shadow is really well caught.
You really have the blending/merging down pat. You get some nice detail in the foreground and still have the great skies.
You're going to be a shoe-in for Aussie Dave's E.S.S.

FAntastic Andrew. I also am envious of your opportunity. I think you have down pat your merging/blending technique and wow that second one is a real keeper perhaps a little more contrast needed in the hut but superb image It would be interesting to hear any tips they may have passed on to get that wonderfully balanced exposure you achieved Andrew.

All these are two exposures blended to expand the dynamic range to handle the contrast, this is another quickie before ni ni, again I've blended two exposures, usually about 1.4 stops apart. This one's a real quickie (it's a bit rough) coz I'm buggered and want to crash
Saw the most stunning sunset behind the lookout tower at the summit of Mt. Buller... I was in awe watching it all unfold...
EXIF:
D70, 12-24Nikkor@13mm, F16, ISO200, exp 1/13th sec, man exp. two seperate exposures 1.4 stops apart, blended.

the first two are great two you certainly get around.
Andrew can you get to mount buller within half a day from Melbourne city?
i'll be there on the afternoon of the 25th feb and again on the saturday 4th March

Mudder - I'm in love with the second shot - very 'arty', almost has a painterly feel to it (at least IMHO) - must have been a fantastic experience, and can't wait to see some more of the shots.

Andrew - shot #2 has such mystery to it and the lighting is beautiful. The blended shot with the foreground plant is superb.

Great 3 shots. My favorite is the first one. 3rd blended shot is quite good but need some more punch I recon. And it's probably just me but my eyes are wandering between grass in the foreground and sunset clouds

Mudder, if you can do this & stick to the rules you are truly an amazing photographer

The merged/blended images are looking great. They make such a difference. You've gotta love digital photography.....

For the ESS, I meant more on his photography and composition skills, not blending skills

G'day mate,
It's about a 2-3 hour drive from Melbourne (about 250k's?), but allow at least another 45 minutes to get to Craig's hut, as the track is bumpy and dusty etc. and it's slow going at times... Also, the short, "smooth" track Circuit Rd. to Craig's hut (going clockwise from TBJ TO Craig's hut, refer to map in the attached link) is closed from 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday, so if you're going up or coming from the hut during those times, you'll have to take the longer and much rougher alternative track (ie: going clockwise FROM Craig's hut). This one's rougher on the car but OK as long as you're in either an AWD or 4WD vehicle, my Subaru Forester was fine...
