Mornington Peninsula Images. **Dial-up Warning**

Well, it's been a while since I've dropped in here....about 5 weeks, and I have over 16,000 posts to catch up on! I guess I'll be surfing a while!

I've spent late December and most of January on the Mornington Peninsula at my Parents property, and managed to capture some images. Most are weather related, and my photoshopping skills still have not improved , but that's a job for this year! I still have about 200 more images to sort and some to process, so this is the first installment.

1, 2, 3 & 4 are Gunnamatta Beach.

5 & 6 are taken on the Boneo Road.

7 & 8 are the Flinders Pier.

1 & 2 Cirrus formations from the property overlooking Bass Strait.

Great photos Jane. My fave from the first set are the ones on Boneo Rd especially the first one. The sunset pic and the lightning strike are definite ones to print out and frame up

Some great shots Jane. I love going down to Mornington. Did you get down to Bushrangers Bay and the walk along the cliff top to Cape Schanck?

I'm really gutted as on Boneo Rd just past Bushrangers Bay, there was this shot I wanted to get of this wierd looking big tree on a hill but it got knocked down during a wild storm Later I found it in a photography book on Mornington Peninsula, seems like somebody else had my idea aswell.

I really like all the sunlit grassy shots with the muted browns and greens

Sunlit hay bails would be my favourite

with the second one, have you thought about cropping off the top just below the people? for me it gives a completely different feel to the shot and works a little better.... but that's just me

lovel lovely sophisticated composition on images 5 & 6 Boneo Road
the foreground interest juxtaposed by the long weedy things is just lovely, especially the way you off centred the pole, love doing this sort of compsoition for spacious rural scenes. The 2nd one though i fel the trree is too close to the right, maybe clone it in closer to the left giving it more room on the right then this gorgeous picture would be puurrrrrfect.

Wow, thanks everyone. I'm a little pressed for time, so I will reply to everyone later. I'm still not happy with my photoshopping techniques, I feel they are all too contrasty and lack some 'oomph', and are a little muddy. I'll need to work on them a little more for printing....I'm going to make some of them into cards for my Mum and Dad, as they now live down there, and saves having to buy other people's!

Wow, there's some great images there... I'm going through some strange pier/jetty fetish at the moment so the pier caught my eye, there are some beautiful sky textures and colors too, it's magic to sit and take in a nice sunset eh...

Also really liked the shot of the hay bales framed by the stuff on the fence(?)...

Oh, not sure what others think but I tend to sharpen for printing more aggressivley than for viewing, and you might be able to push the levels a little harder to maybe if you're trying to increase "punch" in a print maybe??? Not a printing guru, just a thought to try...

Kipper: I didn't get a chance to go to Bushrangers bay this time, a little tricky with the young kids, but it is on my to do list at some stage!

xerubus: I hadn't thought about cropping any of them except the lightning one, but I might try that and see what it looks like!

The hay bales one was shot on the side of the road to Shoreham, directly into the sun and under huge pine trees (the stuff on the fence!!) I have others I took at the same time, but this one just seemed to work the best! I still have heaps more to go through from my second card and will post sometime this week, I hope.

Thanks Guy's! To get such positive reviews from people whose work I admire and aspire to achieve is great.....I just have to work on some colour cast issues in Photoshop.

Thanks for the great comments Greg and Rel, really appreciate it! Oh, and Rel, there is nothing wrong with photographing fences and barbed wire...love it with a bit of grass...as you can tell! I have numerous in my collection . Rust is also good!!

It's great when you discover an area with so many varied photo ops. In #6 of the first set what does the tree look like if you straighten the sea horizon line?
