some friends helped me test out my monobloc slaves and backgrounds - had fun and they're happy with the shots. Happiest with the composition of the first shot but my fav is the second.

Wow Mark. Up to your usual high standard with these. I actually prefer #1 by a shade over #2, but they're all good. I guess #3 is the weakest since the pose is too forced. That second last shot - the guy has great demonic eyes.

I should clarify, I believe my first shot there is technically better than #2 but... LOL it's the eye candy factor. for me at least.
these two models are absolutely lovely to work with and we'll be doing another shoot fairly soon.
thanks for the comments!

These are very moody and well lit... That first one is the pick for me, and the eyes on the male model are so brooding... Excellent stuff...
They're all well posed, but wonder how it would look if the models weren't looking at the camera in #4, say the girl with her eyes closed or looking off to the side, and the guy staring into her eyes???
Thanks for sharing, these are terrific, well done...

Excellent work Mark. Exposure is great. My picks #1 and the last love the pose the eyes have it. Sublte but very astute use of the lighting. Both models seem very photogenic. There is always strong emotional content in your portraits
cheers

I was actually thinking we hadn't seen much from your lately Mark! Glad your back and, some lovely shots too. I can very much relate to what you mean about #1 and #2, love the eye candy in #2, I hope she wears SPF50+ when she goes outside...
With #1, its strange but it very much reminds me of Dr Who, which is bizarre but there it is
#3 Like the pose here, but I think it need something a little more, perhaps the snake, a black rose or slightly different lighting... this ones good, but with your high standards I think you have more potential with a shot like
this
#4 and #5 are interesting but again I can't put my finger on it but they are mising a little something... the models are great though... excellent poses!

I like the first two, but overall for all the pics the lighting is great and so are the models You've definitely come a long way mate. Great stuff and keep it up.

Mark - maybe I will never understand Goths but I do understand your photography and it is superlative as usual. The second to last shot is my pick of the bunch and my only comment would be to clone the colour on the left to black

A lovely series of photos Mark... I love this stuff...
I presume that the costumes / clothes are owned by the models, but can I just ask where do you get the furniture & other materials???

Nice work! Technically excellent also. I know how hard it is to get a real black in a studio setting. The subject was made for the camera! Keep exploring.

Hi Mark
great series
I like the aesthetic quality and dramatism in photos 1 and 2 the others are technically excellent, but i think the art direction in the first 2 great.
Great to share the frum with another fashion concious member, but i know your passion for goth extends more than mere fashion.
excellent work, especially considering you used flashes and a mockup studio.

thanks mate,
the first two are my fav shots of this series. The Courier-Mail's QWeekend magazine will soon have a good number of my friends featured as they are finishing off a story on Brisbane's goth scene (partially orchestrated by me - I found most of the victims for the reporter and work photographer)
I've been in this scene since 1990 so I know most of the freaks and most of them know me. It's a friendly and safe scene and the most trouble we have is usually limited to self inflicted drunken injuries on the dancefloor and one drink spiking sod we are all trying to identify. I've got a lineup of goth models asking for shoots this year and should be uploading heaps of similar work from my garage.
