I took these tonight (oops, last night now). Very little PP due to current lack of PS knowledge

Was late & there was a bit of haze, so this was about as good as I got for the sunset

The first two - landscapes taken in portrait mode... great colours, altho I'm finding the darks a little bit muddy.

I don't really see the handrail light as distracting in the third - nice composition and well exposed.

I like them. Once you figure out your PPing skills you will be able to make them even better.

I like the colours in the first two, particularly the second one. Would lood a bit better with some light PP (just contrast, saturation etc).

I really like the third one, the green surrounding the lit areas, with the red down the centre looks great. Maybe some PPing to either completely remove the hills in the background or bring them out more.

Number four is good to, I havent seen that memorial before, the colours are really good.

I like them, well done mate!

If these are very little PP then they look even better then... Once you get the hang of PP (there's heaps of tutorial links around, yell out if you need some links, one of us will post a few if you need some links to tutes).

You can try using "Local Contrast Enhancement" type of sharpening, using a large radius, low percentage and low threshold to increase the apparent sharpness in distant hills etc... For example on a full size NEF/PSD make a feathered selection where you want the effect and USM maybe 10-20p's and low % like 10 or something, just play with settings and try it... See what you think, just on distant stuff usually like hills, buildings...

Some interesting angles and compositions too... The glass panels look great, tempted to clone out the couple of highlights at the end of the "fence" on the right hand-side...

#2 is my favourite (but a little PP would bring it out more)

#3 I also like this shot, but might consider cloning out the light down near Daniel.

#1 I like the colour in the sky but the foreground is a little bland, a bit more contrast might work ?

I like no 2 as well. I attempted a similar shot in landscape which, as a consequence of also trying to get the red sunset in, missed out most of the War Memorial which I think looks good in yours and provides a good anchor in the foreground.

Love the pic of Daniel. The street lights are nicely glowing without flaring.

Thanks for the tips everyone - I'll be spending some time getting acquainted with the PS tutorials in the coming weeks. I'm not all that happy with the first one & will work on it. Thanks for the detail mudder

The first 2 were taken in landscape (my current poor ol' tripod doesn't allow me to swing the camera into portrait ) & cropped to get the shot I wanted.
