Patagonia - Perito Moreno Glacier - December 2005 (8 photos)

Talk about a difficult (reflective) subject. Very easy to over expose the ice.

A mixture of shots taken with my 50mm 1.4 (+ skylights filter) and kit lens (+CPL)

Please enjoy. These photos take me back to what was a very wonderful day I spent at this glacier. I think I could have watched it for days. So unique

Great series overall but that first image, man! That is a great shot and the contrasting color from the glacier, pastel light really work together with the rugged landscape. Excellent shot!

Love the first shot in pano, great expanse and the image with the boat to give scale gives the real impression of just how huge these things are...

Beautiful series of a magic place. I was there in 1979 on a "back of a truck" camping expedition (aah, those were the days!) and although we were camped four miles away, all we heard all night was the loud cracking of the glacier.

Argentina and Chile, very southern tip of South America. This glacier is in Argentina.

You are well travelled then Sheila. I was 1 year old in 1979. I too was amazed by the cracking sounds made by the glacier. It must have been doing this for a very long time now. Its a shame that photos cant do that aspect of this place justice. I guess people will just have to see ti for themselves to fully experience the place.

I was lucky enough to see a very large piece fall from the glacier in the morning (unfortunately no photos) and the noise and spectacle of the subsequent wave will stay with me always.
