 Re: 2nd Body
Mic Mic Mic.... What a question!?! It has to be retorted with 'what's the estimated budget?':) Geoff Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
 Mic,
Turning to 40? just 1/3 of the life! still too young my friend! A D200 and the rest of the money go for some newer glasses. Birddog114

 Good suggestion there Geoff Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
Thanks bp, but I would like to get intimate with the body before I do Wedding Geoff, Sorry, Well I know everybody will say the D2X, I should have left that one out. Is it really that good, compared to the others. REALLY ? Mic.
A few weddings A new body I suggest someone around 30 then trade for a 25 year old and then work to the ultimate - a 20 year old Swede Chris -------------------------------- I started my life with nothing and I’ve still got most of it left

Not everyone - even our patron Birdy suggested the D200 Geoff Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.

You still take photos, then If you are sure you need a second body I'd go the D200. It's getting good reports, costs only a little more than the D70, has newest technological stuff for its $$ but is close to a D2x in performance. ALternatively consider a second hand D70 Peter Disclaimer: I know nothing about anything. *** smugmug galleries: http://www.stubbsy.smugmug.com ***

Do you see a trend (or 200) here mic? Peter Disclaimer: I know nothing about anything. *** smugmug galleries: http://www.stubbsy.smugmug.com ***

Mic, As said, you're from the D70 platform, a D200 will do the job for you, and the D70 is your backup. Money left over, spend on the glasses. Later down the track........ If you're doing well, eBay the D70 and grab a D2x, then D200 will be your backup. That's my strategy if I'm in you case. This is why I posed the question Stubbsy, thought it might be going this way.
Good to hear all suggestions though.

On a more serious note, my suggestion is to have two bodies that are the same. The reasoning is simple - ease of operation when swapping between bodies with different lenses attached. Chris -------------------------------- I started my life with nothing and I’ve still got most of it left
Mic, unless you are planning to specialise in "wacky weddings" (which wouldn't suprise any of us ) like skydivers saying their vows at 10,000 feet, a D200 or a Dnn is overkill. Brides dont move THAT fast so AF speed and framerate is not a huge concern. 6mp from a d70 is plenty for the 99 6x4's and the 3 8x10's that the average bride orders Another cheapo option is a Fuji S2 or S3. Lousy AF speed and framerate but wonderful colour rendition - perfect for weddings. Q: Why do brides always smile when they walk down the aisle? A: I'll get banned if I publish the answer.. If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??

You WILL get banned if you don't PM me the answer Geoff Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
 Johndec,
The S3 is around $2500.00 (HKG's price) same price as the D200. Birddog114

I know the answer - they have seen your bank account That’s why I have had 3 Chris -------------------------------- I started my life with nothing and I’ve still got most of it left

and still smiling...... Cheers ....bp.... Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing

Nope... ask Geoff If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??

OK. Skip the S3 If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??
Hi mic, D70 or D200 will do the job fine. Get the D70, use the spare $$ for glass and also for advertising

Try not to get the D70 if you dont want to get stuck with two D70s in your hand. Birddog114

 Cheers all,
Good to know I was on the same thought pattern as you all. I will probably go the D200 track. Glad to provide some chuckles & wife bashings Mic. Back one day with a new body & Mojo to boot
