Forgotten Froggy

Here's a shot I took ages ago while frogging with BlacknStormy and Damian (who kept his clothes on the whole time, I might add).

I love these little guys. This one's only about a centimetre long, brought to life by BlacknStormy's 105mm Micro lens.

Hi K - thanks for the comments. No real trick in not blowing the highlights - just keep the meter running and use a Lightsphere to diffuse the flash. The old plastic beer cup comes in very handy with these shiny surfaces. I don't think Narelle ever takes a flash shot without it!

Nice and simple. A vertical (portrait) crop might add to the composition a bit, perhaps - make it a bit stronger.

But as is, a great shot.

Hey thanks big guy. I'll try the vertical but I specifically wanted some room on the side for this one so that's why I stayed with the original composition. You'll have to come with us sometime - this one was taken at the Wellington Point Constructed Wetlands after we'd had a pretty poor night at Cleveland's Black Swamp.

That is true - it might look a bit odd framing too close to where the frog is 'looking'.

Don't know about advertising it too far and wide - these trips are usually as part of the guys' studies or work and too many people along could spoil the result. Plus, swamps at night are not everyone's cup of tea....

Very nice framing and comp! The frog has an irridescence or metallic sheen which really stands out against the black background

this is a gr8 shot it remynds me of wen i went froggin with me mates as a yungster but seriously this is the kind of photo that ud see on the cover of lots of magazenes. we used to watch the taddies grow into awesome frogs...them were the days! any1 got some taddy photos?

And you are right, looks a hell of a lot better on my monitor at home than when I looked today You should be damn proud of this shot - fallax are sometimes real little shits to get a good photo of Oops - swearing in thread - apologies

I will just add to the thread to say that i think its a reall good image with top composition and sharp details (what nearly everyone else has said.) I would like to take my new macro out frogging one night. I will make sure i take a beer cup too!
