Dancing Girl - My first upload
After lurking around for a few months I've decided to finally load an image. Hopefully the first of many to come.

Nice movement and framing!
 This must have been near the start of the night, when only the kids and a couple of eager dancers dare to attack the dancefloor - great that she is the only dancer in-frame.
Great image. Yes the whites are very hot, but i reckon if you take advantage of that and 'burn' some of the background (darker) then it will create a more focussed subject. IMHO. The sense of movement is excellent. This image could be changed in so many ways and not lose it's appeal.

Welcome myarhidia - congratulations on your first image post - and what a fine one it is too! As already stated there are a few little hot spots in this image which detract from it (only a little bit)....I think this image would look absolutely awesome in a B&W or sepia tone!! Well done!! Where in Sydney are you from too?
I couldn't resist...I desaturated your image down to -84, used some blurring in the background and this was the result. Let me know if you'd like me to remove it:

Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
What surprises me most is the 1/10th shutter speed! You did well to capture at that speed. Although the flash wasn't entirely sufficient to freeze all visible movement.
And judging from your sig, I share your sense of humour. I'm salivating.

Like the de-sat'ed one, the hot spots don't worry me at all especially in the de-sat version which I think suits the image. Lovely feel to the image, well done, look forward to more Aka Andrew

thanks for the feedback & comments. Geoff, no probs with your image. More than happy for you to keep it there. As for the 1/10 shutter. The girl was spinning on the dancefloor making her skirt float up. After grabbing a couple of frames with normal flash exposure, I wanted to try to get some motion blur. Got down on one knee and used the other to support my arm & the camera. Out of 3 frames this was my favourite. regards Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?
