My pick of the shots from the night shoot on 12/11. Click a pic to see a larger version. I'd never been to Mrs Macquarie's Chair before and it was a great spot for a night shoot, plus it was good fun chimping with the others that were there

Beautifully exposed Peter they are all standouts. I would have been tempted to include a little less of pale blue sky and a little more of that beautiful colured reflection in the watery foreground in both #1 and #3. Particularly in #1 the play of light on the shimmering water really is appealing. Having said that the balance you have created in your crop works well too! :)
cheers

I really like the third one, the reflections are really pretty. I like the clouds as it makes the shots look 'real'.

My fave is #1 the silhouette - reminds me of what Auckland must have looked when they had a black out a few years back :D

#2 seems crooked to me  or is it just my eyes telling me go to bed....

Stubbsy is number 2 stitched?

I had a go at this same shot in daylight and managed it with 5 images.
This is a cracker of a shot.

I think iv'e said once before, try selling these to Sydney City Council
or the Harbour Authority.

Jethro

I think he was using the 12-24 which I'm guessing is maybe wide enough at that distance to do it in one shot. (But I'm just guessing).

Thank you all for your comments.

#2 seems a little contentious doesn't it. If you look above each image I give the lens and some other details. You'll see this was taken with the 24-120 VR which can go wide enough (just) at 24 to get this from Mrs Mac's chair. There is a tiny amount of spherical distortion in the centre, however the image is pretty straight (I checked before I posted). I think the real issue is that there's a little optical illusion at play because the RHS has darker water.

I thought I'd responded to this thread already. Hmm obviously not.

Peter I love #2 & #3. Great stuff! :) Wonderful colours, and great composition. I've really enjoyed looking at all your posts. Thanks. :)

2nd and 3rd are the standouts imo - they look like part of a series that should be in a coffee table book about Aus.

Doug, Rich & Maximus. Thanks for the comments.

Maximus - interestingly those two pics WILL be in a coffee table book. I'm just finishing off a Momento book of my best images of the year to be gifts for a few people this year and those two are in the book.

OK Peter - for my choice #1 - it reminds me that a city does sleep and when we sleep the lights are out - it also reminds me of a battleship

I'm with Chris Peter. I prefer no 1, which I think is very good. :D I think it just has that little more atmosphere than the others

That is good news. Some shots deserve to be shared to a wider audience than just these forums and a few friends. :)

Stephen

Thanks

All were tripod shots and all were longish exposures of at least 5 seconds.
