Boat Harbour and the freak (Dial-up warning)

Postby Nnnnsic on Mon Nov 07, 2005 12:19 am

Birdy, Tranh, and Stubbsy gave me a tour of the beautiful Boat Harbour this weekend and, while I have more to say than this basic blurb and will say it later on, the following will sum up how great the place is: you need to go... now.

Here are some of the images I've shot and gone through. I also ended up shooting some on flim (cheers phillipb) and will post some of those later on.

Thanks to Stubbsy, Thanh, and Tranh for making it an absolutely brilliant weekend. :)

Leigh, so many appealing images here, the wine racks, the lone 4WD, Stubbsy the guide and the 2 of Tranh. I am liking your shots more and more. Maybe I am becoming more arty or you are becoming more mainstraem? Love your use of B&W

Some great shots Leigh, hard to pick a favourite but this time round I liked the tyre tracks, last time it was the wine rack.

Leigh

This is a great bunch of shots of which 1, 2 and 5 are the standouts for me. I do not think the colour one is anywhere near as good as the monochrome ones and the last shot of the beach is just too much white for me. I agree with others - this is a step up from your previous work and is reminiscent of the group of shots you took on the way to a mini meet.

Good to hear you had a great time - it was fun to catch up. I'll send you a bill for the modelling work.

I'd actually done two black and white's of Thanh's 4wd on the beach, but Leek asked me if there was going to be any colour and, while I don't really have an eye for colour, I put it in there because I know a lot of people get bored of my black and whites (which I don't actually care about, mind you).

I think the wine rack was the only one that used the 45P.

All others are a combo between the kit lens and the 12-24DX, which Stubbsy let me borrow.

The 4wd was done on the 12-24... hell... pretty much everything that weekend after Stubbsy offerred it to me was done on the 12-24.

I'd put the 45P on the F60 because I wanted to see what the lens did on full frame.

Nice to see you had fun leigh. I like the last one of Tran the best, it reminds me once when i walked on a beach alone, it was so tranquil i could hear myself think and the pitter patter of mucous falling from the ridge of my mouth onto my toungue, a lovely moment it was, thanks for the the nostalgic trip with your winning shot.
The first shot of the ageing wines in the cellar is top notch.

I agree with Matt, Wendell you have evoked very moving imagery, if you get any spare time I think it would make an interesting series... I for one would be interested in the pitter patter of mucous... or saliva.. although it would be hard to shoot.

I was getting a bit worried there Leigh that you had gone 'straight' until I saw the blurry one, then realised things were back to normal! Nice pics.

Leigh,

A great selection of images. I particularly like the 6th shot. It reminds me of a director on a sci fi movie set or something.

keep them coming
