Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

My final images from the Sydney night shoot last weekend. I almost missed the first one which has (to me) an interesting composition.

Peter, You have nailed No1, man thats a friggin good shot which to myself says it all about sydney.

I like the way the Opera House has been framed by the bridge Peter, an angle you don't see all that often (unless you're sitting in our lounge, or visit Poon's office in HK!!!). Your angle is definately further around, so I won't chase you for licence fees ;)

I am very impressed at the sharpness of all of these shots, and I'm sure it's not just the lens. I need to sit down with you to see what you do in sharpening these things. I tend to over-do this part of PP usually.

Nice shots, all of them :)

Peter,

I like #1 a lot. If I could change anything it would be taking it earlier in the evening when there is a little more light in the sky but that is just nitpicking. Great shot mate.

Love #1 Peter. The composition is both striking and unusual. You almost wish you could have magically shifted the opera house a tad to the left to have all the shells from behind the pillar. Great shot!

If I may say, looking back to when we both wen't and sailed in company of tall ships, your photography has excelled heaps. :D

I'm sure his tripod G1325 and the RRS BH-55 Pro contributed to the sharpness of #1 and other pics in his gallery. Weather at that evening was very windy, that proved the sturdy tripod helped.

You've nailed it Birdy, who needs a camera when you've got a solid tripod? Great pic of the Opera House Peter, an unusual angle but it works. I also liked the second shot as well. :wink:

A couple of well composed, well exposed images Peter - Well done...

It's difficult to find new interpretations of the coathanger, but these are great...

In #1 you could try selectively lightening up the horizintal of the bridge on the LHS, but that's all I could improve...

I wish I'd come along that night...

Great shot Peter,

#1 is awesome, frame it and give it to good friends for Christmas :), they'll love you for it.

Very different perspective on #2, for me, I'd just crop a bit more of the sky on the top.

A benro tripod/head would not have done it quite as sharp as the gitzo ;-)

We're getting a nasty habit to shoot very similar photos :)
This one at 65 mm and I was staying bit left to Luna-Park direction :) And it's taken in last March

Jethro - Not sure SCC has the $$$ I'd want for it :wink:

Leon - I didn't do all that much PP on these. Mostly they were done in NC then taken to PS for the border, but in NC I used the Nik Color Efex filters (frequently used ones are the Contrast Only filter and the Graduated ND filter). I used DEE in NC a bit too + minor sharpening

Christian - thanks for the compliment. Can't put my finger on it, but I also feel I've lifted my images a notch lately.

Birdy - Even with the mighty Gitzo 1325 + BH 55 Pro I had a few blurry ones (even discounting the ones I created because I had VR on for the first few shots with the 70-200 VR)

Mikhail - Spooky :shock: Great minds think alike I see :wink: :lol:
