I'm a tad curious as to how my lens collection, be it whatever it might be, might be relevant to you?

My lens choices are based upon my photographic needs - I shoot car racing, for instance, and the reach of the 80-400VR is an essential requirement for me. Similarly, I shoot in dark and dingy pubs, and the speed of the 50mm F1.4 is a very useful attribute to have in my lens collection. They're my needs, not yours, though. So, I would have thought that a far better way for you to determine your lens needs would be to evaluate the sorts of images that you shoot - landscapes, macros, car or bike racing, astronomy, whatever ... and then to see what lenses, that will fit your camera body, best match your photographic needs and budget. So, rather than risk having this thread turn into some sort of a pissing contest of who has got what, let's try to understand what you're expecting to shoot, and let's deal with those needs in a proactive and meaningful manner. g.

Art, my lenses range from 12mm to 1100mm and many are old and unavailable. What do you want to take photos of? Maybe we could suggest lenses in a certain range? Could be more helpful.

As others mentioned, your lens choice depends on your needs. Please find images (by search) I post on this forum. To have done them I used (on D70, 1.5 crop factor): 20mm/4 AI (useful in some situation) 28/2.8 AFD (very useful) 50/1.8 AFD (useful) 105/2.5 AIS (extremly useful) Hope, this helps. Remember, before you will start to purchases lenses, master one by one. Often people tend to be very wide or telephoto Regards, K.Polak

Or, in marketing (P&S) speak, a MASSIVE 91x OPTICAL ZOOM RANGE! Factor in the 1.4x crop factor, and.... *** When getting there is half the fun! ***

Also Gary, given that one of our members has already had the majority of his camera gear robbed from his house, I think it would be a good idea not to promote threads such as this.

Darryl, That's a part of the reason that I've tried to steer this down what I feel might be a a more productive track. g.
