 Redline,

I had a couple of HP laptop batteries done a few years ago. Performance was definitely better. I did a third one myself (not hard) with high capacity cells that I bought. All that is required is a functional circuit inside the battery. Cheers
do you really save alot of money buliding the battery yourself? whereabout are theses cells purchased Mattc?.

i not even total sure about the current one in the laptop, if i remove the ac it goes straight into hibr mode but it looks like the battery is full charged? i guess a new battery might sort out my problems. i guess i could pull the current one apart and put cells into it righht?? Redline, seems to work well, the comparison was hard from my memory of the original 5 years ago versus a new one today, so cant really compare to an original. They were about $135, original Toshiba was about $285

Savings? Not a huge amount. It would be easier to see what Birddog has to offer The cells that I used were ordered from the USA with an order for a large amount of NIMH. I was building some remote irrigation monitoring stations at the time - before they became mainstream and still cost a fortune. Buggered if I can find a link - but there are plenty of other suppliers in AU. The actual mechanics of rebuilding one is simple, but you need to be certain that the packs board is functional otherwise you have wasted your money. I had five dead battery packs to play with and I was bored. My previous comments were not really intended to suggest trying it for yourself but if you are up for it.... Here is a tutorial on the subject. http://www.electronics-lab.com/articles ... construct/ Cheers
I've also seen fairly cheap universal laptop batteries on Ebay, always coming from China. One such battery was supposed to last over 10 hours (!) but I wouldn't buy one before getting some positive feedback about it. Has anyone had the opportunity to try them?
