Well this wasn't too bad seeing as I have a tripod worst than that advertisement that was posted on here some time back for an aluminium square tubing tripod. I can breath on it and it would move.
Lens used was a Sigma 70-300MM APO Super Macro with a Hoya +2 closeup diopter. Using the SB-800 as a bit of fill light.
All in all, not too bad considering the gear used. Really need a decent tripod though.

Not bad at all Kipper - but there is a lot of chromatic aberration around some of the petals, this can be removed if you have the iNova actions.

I love this flower.
I am happy about the fact that affordable gear is producing
good quality photos, such as yours.
I used to have the sigma 70-300mm super APO II and have managed
to take some very crisp and clear shots.
Keep it up.

get the decent tripod, your 70-200VR can do for you a nice macro lens with the Canon 500D 77mm on it, you'll be surprised.

Yeah I saw the (blue) chromatic abberations on the edges of the petals. I think the Hoya +2 closeup causes this. Never realised iNova had an action to remove it though.
