Landscape BW

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Thought it looked more serene in grayscale.

This is taken with Nikon Coolpix 775!! Waiting on a D70 :cry:

I like it. Has a 3D feel to it that is created by the clouds over the mountains. Beautiful country side.

Photo reminds me a bit of Ansel Adams kind of shots.

Thanks for the comments guys! with a D70 it would have looked better :D

I actually wished there was a boat there, or a penguin/polar bear or something to give some scale to the scene. The fjord in the picture is huge. kinda like Milford Sound in NZ.

oh yeah,

chris: I'll post the colour version once I get home.

The colour version was abit blue and didn't seem to bring out the detail as much as when I switched over to BW. I found this abit bizarre but anyway see what you guys reckon.

I had a look at this photo in Photoshop Elements and made some slight changes to the colour. Is this about right, or is it too green?

fozzie: No don't think that's too green. That is certainly an major improvement from the original picture which is way too blue in my opinion.

by the way, what is Photoshop Elements? never heard of it before.

Adobe Photoshop elements is a cut down version of Adobe photoshop at a much cheaper price.

I prefer the B&W version.

Any chance of bumping the contrast just a tad? I'm not seeing a really rish, pure black in this. There's some very close deep greys, but nothing that I'd call full black.

This is the package I purchasd some 10 months ago from InstantIT online for $173 (Incl. GST) + Shipping. I have had a quick look on the internet and this is the only place at the moment I could find it bundled together. Some other people on the forum may know where you can source it if you are interested.
