Escape: Recapture

Had a shoot on yesterday where the theme was Escape (or escapism - whichever way you want to see it).
This is from the latter part of the series where the sub-theme was Recapture. Funnily enough, The Great Escape was being shown on channel 7 the night before so provided some helpful inspiration.
Going to darken that right hand side a bit as I just realised it's still a tad too bright.
Stupid wireless flash trigger cut out on me for this shot :S
Lighting setup where the flash did fire was a naked 580EX to the left and an SB800 diffused with a Lumiquest Softbox II on the right and held up high - had it attached to my monopod and someone carrying it for me.

Great shots technically. I really love the lighting you've done and the mood you've created. Exposure is spot on in all the shots (even the 3rd one seems pretty nicely exposed). Thanks for sharing.

These are all great, however, my preference is actually the last one.
The lighting, execution of idea and composition are all great.
My only niggle is in the last two where his feet seem to pop back into the frame with his knees chopped off. I would have got his knees in the shot.
But I really like these.

nice stuff wayne. I like the lighting of the last, but the expression of the first, with passion!
thinking the clean pressed shirt take a bit away from the "escapism" desperation. maybe add a little sweat/dirt in PP?
great photos

Strong, creative images and dramatic lighting. They work.

Wayne - these are very very good, and the last one is the best to me, but like Oz I think the guy needs to be dirtier - dirty shirt and some grime on him - he looks like he's fresh from the make up chair which runs counter the the feel of the rest of the short to me.

Love the lighting, and the concept, I agree.. some dirt would help.

Great work, Wayne. I like no. 1 the most in terms of expression, but the lighting wise the last does it for me. In fact the lighting in the last shot suppresses the cleanliness of the shirt (as you can't see it's clean).

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Hmm point taken about the dirt on the face and shirt. Unfortunately I couldn't dirty the shirt as I don't think the designer would have appreciated a scruffed up top returned.
I'll have a go with adding in the dirt on his face and top tho.

Hmm... what a pity he never did escape from those clothes...
Lurving these shots though Wayne... they are so out of the box... very original... the lighting is excellent sort of all dark and dreary which suits the theme so well.. my only niggle is that I didn't take them... *pouts*
