I really like the second shot - to me it is a much stronger image due to the eye contact - I also prefer the pose and the treatment :)
Nice one

You are a hard worker Dan. You just keep pumping this stuff out and it gets better with time. With your rain layer, try inverting the layer so that the rain is white rather than black. It will look more authentic.
Cheers!

Dan,
always like to see how people tackle the photoshop creative side - I like the mystical shadows on #2 very effective but while #1 is interesting it just doesn't say rain to me - try looking for a rain / droplet brush and applying more irregularily with varying pressure - also like the previous comment about inverting the brush colour .
I'll also hunt through my brush collection and see if I can find some 'rain'
But once again admire your manipulative talent

Hi, just remembered I had this tucked away http://www.photoshoplab.com/rainy-day-rain-effect.html

- may be what you are looking for and can certainly be done on an angle . Remember to work on a separate layer and save as a brush or action for next time

Let me know what you think

I really dig the second photo. Really gives out an ethereal feel. Don't really like that effect on the 1st photo as it looks like some cheap photoshop filter thats there just for the sake of being there and not really adding to anything.
If you can give the same treatment like the second photo then I think both will be winners.

The second one is brilliant.. I do the first still though but the second one just blows it away... :)
