against my better judgement and at my wife's insistance, (since she saw a friends kids photos cropped like this), i decided to try tight crops for these portraits. what do you think ? do the tight crops work ?

i've also been playing with WB and colour temps a fair bit lately i prefer the last one which is off camera flash and a home-made softbox. but i kinda like #2 aswell. #1 is too red but the sunlit wooden blinds killed me and i can;t get the colour cast i want in it.

The second one works for me. Nice and sharp plus the eye doesn't get distracted anywhere else

Tight crops work when there is no hand just appearing in the image... well thats my personal opinion anyways... your second shot is gorgeous... would love to see it as a mono too... tell your wife she has excellent taste in photography ...:)

The 2nd one is great. Have you tried a square crop?
