The Puerta de Alcala (Alcala Gate) is a well known landmark in Madrid (Spain). This madrilenian icon was built to celebrate the arrival of Carlos III to the Spanish capital to take the Spanish throne and it was finished in 1778.

I took the original picture with a Canon EOS 30D fitted with a Canon 17 - 55 IS USM lens, tripod, ISO-400, Shutter Speed and Time Exposure 1/25 sec., Aperture F/2.8, Focal Length 28 mm., Aperture Priority, UV filter, taken in colour in RAW format and resized and converted to a black and white jpg photo with Photoshop.

Stunning!

The photo draws the eye into the centre of a, what I think is a very old and moody building.

Almost perfect save for the image of the passing car that obscures the front of the building.

Cheers

This is the biggest bullfighting ring in Madrid at night. It is called Plaza de las Ventas. Outside thei building there is a statue of a famous matador dedicating the death of a bull to Dr Flemming (famous for penicilin). As you can see they illuminate only part of the building.

I will be showing more in weeks to come, but I don't want to saturate the thread for I do not want to be called to order by the big boss.

Of these the insurance building shot above is the standout for me so far. BTW if you have LOTS of pics to share you can also avail yourself of our new Gallery Updates section.
