A snail on speed ....
well, a shot of a snail with palm fronds in the background - rotate the shot and you have 'speed' LOL

Nice image! The colours work well. I'm guessing you only had a split second? :D

Maybe I've just been standing out in the rain too long, but to me it looked like a blurred background that you sometimes get photographing a moving object :( >>>>> ;) LOL. I rotated the original shot as the snail was coming down the trunk of the tree .... this isn't making any sense at all it is :?
Oh well - just a photo of a snail :)

That's a great image Rel and the waving fronds give a great blur as you say. Rotated 90 degrees I take it. Guess he was heading uphill or he'd be more blurred.

Edit: You beat me Rel - no I thought the same thing when I saw it motion blur then I went WTF it's a snail

Wow, you have a great panning technique. ;) As do the French with regards to snails, usually with butter and garlic.

Back in the old days, you'd have a big camera on an even bigger tripod, and the shutter speed would be so slow you'd have to fake this shot! :D

Lovely image Rel. Colours work well, good subject separation and ..YES... I feel a need for speed!
I frankly think we should drug test this snail. He's on something :)
cheers

Hey Rel,
It even has rcing stripes on it's shell.
Is this one of our natives or just an odd import?
Regards Colin

Thanks everyone - crappy shot I know, but I thought it was kind of funny ;)
This is a native snail, Figuladra mattea. It is found from Brisbane to Mackay, but is not common around Brisbane ....slightly more common in Ipswich. The funny part is it is supposed to be found in dry vine thickets under logs, but where is it at my house???? - they all live in our battered old palm tree, and only come out when it is raining :) LOL

Hugs
Rel

I love it Rel you always show us a different side to our every day creepy crawley, you're very good at personification and in the end they don't seem so creepy crawley afterall.

I think it's great, nice tones and love the background. And you don't see too many snail shots..
