Lonely Persian Leopard...

I have been trying for some while to get a decent shot of this 'BIG CAT'. This afternoon I believe I have been successful.
D2x + Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 ED II + TC-14EII
ISO320 - 1/400sec - f/4
C&C welcomed.

That's a great shot - one worth the wait I suspect. Sharp and great eye contact with no obvious interfering glass or wire

Great bit of work fozzie
One of the secret of working with big cats is to bring a lure along with you. Young children or old and with a pronounced limp work the best. Always head for the big cats first up as soon as the zoo opens before they are fed and get bored with people looking at them.
I did a behind the scenes tour at Dubbo as I would do at any zoo I was near and at the lion night cages, the two females couldn't keep their eyes off the children playing ball until this old couple came up with the elderly gentleman on crutches. It was pure "hello breakfast". Its a shame that the night cages are double wired which prevented any decent shots as you cant focus out both sets of wire.

A very very nice shot .. in a very challenging situation
What the team may not realise is this leopard (Adelaide zoo) lives in a horrible old cage with thick black grid wire with missing paint and lots of reflection, lots of uneven shade in the enclosure, she never keeps still, rarely looks at the camera and is right in the back of the enclusure .
You really should be proud of this shot ! something I will aim to do this well
Personally I love it cropped to just the head shot

Stunning crop- you can almost feel how soft the fur is and the eyes are a real stand out
