from a technical standpoint i've nailed the trick, perfect timing. the lighting is also good imo.

anyone got opinion to offer?

for the record, he has gone up the ramp, done this trick, then landed going backwards down the ramp. turndown to fakie for anyone who knows bmx.

That pose looks very unnatural - without the description I would have suggested some kind of corrective medical procedure for the rider! (Also.. the rear wheel is quite obscured so it almost looks like he's riding a unicycle  )

It looks like a REALLY tricky shot to take, and it was taken in the dark, so well done!

Let me be quite blunt here James ...

I intenesly dislike this style of photography. The subject holds less than no interest for me at all, and thus I will pass by most images of this genre.

In fact, I'll probably cross the road to try to avoid them.

Most of them.

This one, though, is different. I'm not sure why, or what you've done differently in capturing this one, but it's good. Bloody good.

But that's just my humble opinion.

Well done. You got me to open the page.

Twice. :)

"why on earth is gary critting this if he doesn't even want to look at it"

and finished reading it with a huge smile on my face

i sent a copy of the high res to a mag editor and it's getting published.

I like the lighting too, in particular, how it shows the form of the ramps - very lunar :). However I find the shadow (something else as well?) hiding the rider's face distracting.

only thing about going higher is the trick looks smaller.

2020 are publishing it next issue, profile on ryan.
