No single shot can get this much DR, so I had to use HDR. My 2nd attempt

No idea! it was late so I assume once the museum closes everyone disappears!

Wide angle lens I think this shot... so its distortion :) I may play with this more though

Working through my images is a MAMMOTH task :(

Kris I was there till 11pm and it was PACKED full of tourists, I had to be Super patience to get shots minus people, and Katie helped by flashing stupid tourist till they moved out the of the way, only worked sometimes. BTW if you PP job is Mammoth what woud 20k of photos be ? :P

I have NO idea how you took 20k in photos in 1/3 of my time OS - did you leave your camera on high speed or something :P

Fantastic shot Kris,

Q) Was this multiple exposures and if so how do you stop the people from ghosting in the HDR merge?

So just brought it in and tone mapped it ? If so, excellent results!

Yep, I played with all the sliders to achieve a blend of natural/hdr look - over the top HDR looks silly imo. Then used PS CS3 to play further with contrast/brightness/selective color/USM

Thanks!

Kris, what an excellent shot!

I must say your comment up the top "no single shot can get this much dynamic range" could probably do with correction to "no single digital shot". I have thousands of images with as much DR, some taken with $35 cameras, all taken on film. It was a pretty good material for its time :D

Kris,

if you used a tripod you should have taken a couple more photos to try and blend out the people in the shot. with the little amount of people in the area, it shouldn't have taken that many shots.
the auto blend in PS-CS3 is awesome, but a little manual work is sometimes needed.

I could blend the people out in the single raw, then make 3 copies of that and do the HDR - I just didnt :P

I dislike spending ages PP but perhaps ill do a bit more here

Thanks Glen, sorry my Sony :) Whats film again? :P

I actually like the people in the shot and think that in this case removing them lessen the photo overall, but just my 2 cents.

Congrats on POTW btw!
