I am still learning with my new camera, a Canon EOS 400D and realise this image isn't the best, but am going to start putting images up for feedback etc.

Well - if this isn't the best (your words) then it's a bloody good start! :)

You have great DOF and have frozen the action well - even have eye contact! Only suggestion I'd make would be to crop the blue support from the right, and take a little off the bottom.

Its a good action image Teela... nice and sharp where it counts... only thing I can suggest to improve it is to perhaps apply a few curves to the dark eye...maybe you can bring out a little more detail in it?

Oh edited to say ...sorry but I find your name a little distracting on the images...

:)

Thanks for that Bindii. Yes I realise my name on it is distracting, but I've had 3 pics stolen so far, and I'm kind of over it you know? LOL

Terriffic image of a very difficult subject matter.

You are doing well, great image.
If anything, I'd like to suggest some highlight/shadow adjustment or curve adjustment.

Cheers,
CD

Great work Teela! Brilliant action shot and the eye sharpness really makes it.

Capturing action is difficult. Capturing action with eye contact is even harder. Capturing all of that when you've only just started is brilliant! Great work!

Wow thank you everyone for your positive comments. Photographing the dogs when they are going flat out was a real challenge. I've yet to play more with shadows/highlights etc but will give that a try.
