Took my new 5D out for test shotsWell after thinking really hard about it, I decided to purchase the 5D. I picked it up this morning at DD Photographics, slapped my 50mm 1.4 and headed straight to Botanical Gardens. Had lots of fun experiencing ISO 50, big viewfinder and even the sound of the shutter.

Don't blink, don't look away but whatever you do, don't blink! Lovely shots, and congratulations on your new kit, it's already churning out crisp smooth images.
Love the lighting and coposition of the statues, but the bokeh is a real distract. the fairy lights are very dominating...

Wow. You spent all that money and it can't take full colour shots. Ask for your money back and get a Nikon

Other days you're just the statue! ![]() Nice pix. TFF (Trevor)

I like the mood of the shots & B&W is perfect. It is probably because of the low light and the use of the 1.4 that the depth of field could be slighlty deeper in some of the shots. Eg in the first shot, the elbow is sharp and the face is slightly soft...anyway just some thoughts. I am really just jealous.

hahaha, hey Peter, yeah I know. When I emailed my friends and family I added "Ironically all the shots I converted to black and white" Don't worry, I have a little project coming this weekend that involves color shots ![]() Thanks for the comments everyone. Critique noted and I do agree with the flaws detected by Oz Beachside and petermmc. However still trying to find the correct term for "fairy lights"
