3 of these burdies have been nesting across the road from my brother in laws for almost 12 months and I finally managed to snap them 2day after I took of my computer tech's hat.

It is a very good image. It's giving you the 'eye' too.

Great capture of this elusive bird. We hear them (Curlew's) quite often around home and used to hear them in Darwin all the time. Rarely see them though.

Thanks all. These are quite elusive litle guys so I am fairly pleased with the result. I have had a bit more of a play in Photoshop and I think that it has come up slightly better. Have removed the dark leaf top right and the foil (bright strip) at both left.

Elusive is something that I have never thought of this bird. I remember that they used to nest on the edges of the fairway at the Cairns Golf Club. You could walk right up to them when they were sitting on their eggs, and they would not move.

When we were on the road last year we stayed a few nights in Airlie Beach. One night we woke up to what I thought were the sounds on two monkeys mating. Next morning I found the culprit next to a little creek adjacent to the amentities block. The werent too elusive there, had to walk pass them every time nature called!

It seems like I am one of the few that has trouble spotting these noisy blighters
