Not sure what sort of bird this is but it was feeding about 20 feet from where I was shooting whales

These are great Bernie - particularly #1 & #3. Great sharpness and composition.
I think #2 has a tad too much open space to be ranked as high as the other two.

Probably a New Holland honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae).
I like all three shots and I don't mind the blank space in the second one.
