Some backstage photos at Nana Judy launch on Friday night. Once again it was a club environment with bugger all lighting so had to make do with what I had. All shots were at ISO1600 and f4. I really should have stuck the flash in manual mode but in a rush, I left it in TTL :?

hey

got some nice setups in the first 2
great treatment and tone

you got the look right but i think especially for streetwear the setup in number 2 is a bit passive they look like pretty wild people you should of got them doing the wild thing lots of attitiude that would of suited the streetwear theme

and i think ttl mode on the flash is fine
im assuming you couldn't bounce the light anywhere because the walls were brown and the ceilling may have been black which is great for mood but useless for fancy flash rebounding tricks

Wayne

These are a good group of images, but I guess you know that  For me #1 stand head and shoulders over the others. It has much more impact because it doesn't look staged like the others. It would be easy to think they were just kicking back and relaxing whereas the others aren't as naturally posed. Compositionally it's quite strong too with you drawn to the central girl and the eye then free to wander left or right to take in more of the image. Well done.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Stubbsy and Wendell - points taken on board. The room was pretty dark and there wasn't much chance in bouncing the light off.

Wayne, Peter has echoed my thoughts concisely so I won't say too much.

I presume you had the one flash on camera? (I couldn't read in your description if it was on or off camera, if you did mention :) ) I think the lighting in the first gives it a really cool, edgy type of atmosphere.
