Hi guys was so impressed by the painting with light technique i went out and had a go at the local sculpture symposium..







And just a 30 second exposure.

I didn't comment on your first painting with light shots since I figured it was just an expermient with what I saw were pretty ordinary subjects.

I'm commenting now since I can see that eperiment coming to fruition. These first three are excellent implementations of your technique and make for very strong images. Number one works best since we still have some sky detail to anchor the object nicely. The last one isn't quite in the same league. It has the detail I liked in the bakground for #1, but is let down compositionally - the tree in the middle is a distraction and the sculpture on the right is not well balanced by those on the left.

I look forward to more of these as you get better with the technique. Thanks for sharing these. makes me want to try the same myself.

Edit: I've just seen Wendell's comment above re: #4 - it just shows how subjective this stuff is eh

Thanks for the comments guys, im mega happy with lastnights shots and find myself thinking more and more about exposure and composition, i only took about 15 pics all up lastnight and i would call all bar one keepers....This is definetly a technique i can see myself using more and more as it can give everyday landscapes/objects a new lease of life and has a much better graphic quality than a standard flash shot.

Really like the 1st and last one

The 1st one looking very alien in a deserted environment and the last one because of the sharp shadows and produced from the lighting. Really creates an atmosphere

#3 is fantastic, so eerie. Only niggle is the slight halo from sharpening, other than that it's brilliant.

Edit: I actually meant the last, only 3 images loaded earlier

I really like #1 here. The whole monolith against the starry sky thing is quite eerie and you've done it really well with your newly discovered technique. I would prefer to see the centred composition a little bit more centred.

#4 isn't bad but seems a touch noisy compared to #1, and I think I prefer the dark foreground as it isolates the subject nicely.

There you are, now you have another opinion to consider.

Adam nice work, in the first image you have the constellation Orion and in the last you have Corvus..

Nice work! The first image has a lovely ambience about it. Beautiful light and mystery.

Great series Adam. #1 and the last are my picks here. Wonderful feel to them very '2001 a Space Odyssey' feel to them. Certainly makes me want to have a go at this imaging process when I travel out western q'ld in the next week and a half. I even bought a 2million candle power torch from Bunnings for the job. Melt the ladscape perhaps

Great pictures! The last one is a bit too dark for my taste, but I think is still very good.

Sculptures on the hill. Very well done Adam. I like #1 best and I think you should do a large print for hanging in the tourist centre. Iam sure they would be interested.
