From the late visit, Zoo was open until 8.00pm, so the male Tiger was very active - had to shoot at 800 to 1600 ISO

Just love the timing of #1 -
just the right amount of movement in the water to capture the 'drink' yet with a perfect mirror of the face - its something about the position of the ripples leading edge that I find very complimentary. Love the glint in the eye - makes me wonder what she is thinking
#2 intensively captavating face - I see depth and personality and feel the softness. Love the foliage and DOF very 3D
#3 "so cute can I have one " quote my Son

Your colours are warm, rich and deep and the shadows very minimal - what time did you shoot and where was the sun/light source ? How often is the zoo open late ? and how do you find out ?

Deb, these were taken at 6.30 to 7.00 in the evening. The zoo was open late as the Crows had a members day, so they had the zoo from 4.00 to 8.00. Fozzie and I just stayed and enjoyed the diffused light due to the cloud cover. The sun was to the left and low in these shots..

Big V,
Thanks for the info ! thought for a moment that the zoo was opening dawn & twighlight sessions and got excited. I love the zoo but not too keen on sleepy animals and harsh shadows.

Love number 2 virgs....... did you get any front on shots through the glass while he was drinking? Last time i was there when he was out was the middle of the day, the light wasn't any good for the position he's in while drinking.
