Well gave the 70-200 a fairly decent run. Waiting for Gary to say I told you so...IS came in handy. Really pushed the 5D to it's limits. Most of the shots were at ISO3200 as the lighting was horrendous.

Great pics. Number one is the one for me, gives me the best feeling of being there at the location, dim dark and loud.

I like the detail in number three though, not often you get to see the fx pedals.

See the IS isn't just a gimmic :P

Good to see that ISO3200 is getting a work out too, any noise reduction on at all, either in camera or in PP? They are nice and clear at this resolution which would be perfect for print!

Thanks Brett. No in camera NR or NR applied at all. I turned off in camera NR immediately when I took it out of the box. Luckily I know one of the bands so I pretty much had free reign over the pics :D

Wayne again nice work, certainly giving the camera a work out, ISO 3200 (crazy). The first is my pick here, the lighting is great.

#2 looks soft, noiser, and (can I detect banding?) not a big fan of it

#3 Not sure where this shot fits, to me (just my opinion) its a bit of a nothing shot... or maybe its a detail shot.. but the detail just doesn't interest me#

#4 shame about the hat putting the musicians whole face in shadow.

Thanks Craig. Appreciate your time taken in giving feedback.

I really pushed the boundaries with the 5D last night. You can tell that with #2. Guess I'll be looking @ something else now  :P I'm sure if I went with a prime like the 135 f2 or 50 1.4, I could alleviate that somewhat.

What was the shutter speed on 2? The mic is in sharp focus and the singer isn't. I would say the singer was moving somewhat :) Will going from 2.8 to 2 be enough to make up that deficit?

Shutter speed was around 1/15 or 1/10 for that pic. Bless the IS :) Yeah I couldn't tell him not to move...drats!
