Earlier in the week, Oz_beachside posted a query about the 70-200VR/80-400VR for motorsports.
To keep my promise (but late) of putting up some 80-400 examples, here they are.

A bit of background:

The event was the 2006 Australian Senior Dirt Track Championships held at Barleigh Ranch Raceway, just outside of Raymond Terrace, October 21-22.

I had the D2h set up with either Spot or Matrix metering, mainly shutter priority at 8fps, with the focus mode on either single area or dynamic with a focus lock priority. The 80-400 VR was set to active mode VR(viewfinder VR preview). The lighting on the day varied from very overcast to monsoonal downpour (I'll post an out-takes thread later).

I secured media access for the event, and shot from the infield, as close as I was brave to get to the track - the bikes are fairly damn quick - mainly Yammy/Honda 450 thumpers at around 80-130 kph. I think it was the sidecar shown here that had a Yammy R1 engine in it (good for 300kph when fitted in the donor bike on road), and seriously scary on dirt.

perfect, and thanks for remembering!!! :D

Love the panning blur, and wheels in motion blur, and the sharpness of the detail.

Now, can I get a 80-400 from HK to Melbourne in before the Southern 80 Ski Race???

Sold!

CHeers.

Thanks for the comments Oz.

I see over in your original thread that you've ordered the 80-400 :D I think you'll like it.

If these images helped your decision making, glad I could help out! :)
