My wonderful wife bought me a 50mm f/1.8! I love it! (EDIT: I love her too!)

Here's Keren with a Balinese Statue from my sister, for the garden. It was a shame to chop off her shoulder, but I was too lazy get up to move further back.

My sisters dog Nelson, drooling over a bit of leftover turkey. Again, a shame to chop off bits of his ear, but there's only so much you can get when you're holding the turkey in one hand and the camera in the other...

My dog Jessie hides under the table and spies on everyone from there ... she's a little scaredy cat. Bad crop, but to me says a lot about her personality!

And a bit of a fruit platter after I'd tucked into the mango...

These were really just mucking around shots, getting the feel of the lens. It's really hard to accurately focus, when you're working with such a narrow DOF (I know, it doesn't have to be that narrow), but the big thing that I learnt is that a narrow DOF/Large Aperture isn't good for taking pics of pets and people who move frequently...

Excellent lens that! I know I love mine. I hope you'll take some good shots with it. Ohh! I can see that you've already started!

Keep it up.
