Hi Everyone,

I've been away for 2 weeks in The Top End as well as NSW and QLD on a storm chase. Darwin disappointed with a return to the dry season and no lightning at all, but NSW was excellent storm wise!! It will take me ages to sort through almost 2000 images, but I will endevour to update my site before Christmas!

Here are the only three images I have processed so far!

1: Crepuscular Rays near sunset in Darwin.

2:'Hector' the term given to the thunderstorms which usually form daily over the Tiwi Island N of Darwin.

3:Daytime lightning strike NW of Moree in NSW. Gren colour cast was due to photographing through the window! With very close bolts dropping all around us, I was not getting out of the car! If anyone has ideas on how to adjust it please let me know!!

Jane

Three fine images and I'd rank them in the order you've posted them. #1 as Chris has already observed is beautifully exposed with just enough detail in the dark areas to maintain interest in the image.

I really like the first one Jane.

Crepuscular Rays? Is that what it's called with those rays of sunshine coming from behind the clouds?

Cheers
John

great photos Jane. Though you may not have time to post, with each post you have made over the past year or so, you keep going from strength to strength. Thoroughly enjoying the weather photos. Keep it up!

Like the others I love the first.
Thanks also for teaching me a new word! "Crepuscular"
Now I am off to my website to add description to a recent post so I can sound more intelligent :)

Beautiful images. The Darwin sunset makes me kind of homesick, although it's been quite a few years since i lived in Darwin. Which beach was it? Can you remember? Perhaps the northern end of Mindil Beach or Fannie Bay?

Nice work Stormygirl. December is best in Darwin for storms.

Thankyou Mic, NJ and Slider! :D

Mal: No worries with the new terminology

Killa: The first pic was taken at East Point almost opposite the lake! Storms were occuring in the 2 weeks before I got there, but a huge high developed and sucked out all the moisture for the next 2 weeks, so I missed out on the storms unfortunately, but had a ball photographing other things!

Nice work! "Crepuscular Rays " sounds so poetic. Also sounds like an unfortunate skin condition! :D :D :D
