On the second shot I'm really supprised that the bails came off before the ball got there. I think we need the third umpire in for this shot.... :) :) :) and maybe the other one :) :) :)

In both shots, the ball, the seam and the shadow on the ball look identical to me..

Perhaps I'm wrong..but so was GWB about WMD.. :P

Great shots. I have been trying to take good shots of my team with mixed results.

The 2nd is best, although, with the first, someone should tell point that he should be walking in with the bowler.

I hope not... the usual situation in cricket is that the bails don't come off before the ball hits the wicket or the wicketkeeper attempts a stumping.

Hmmm..so how do you explain the bails coming off before the ball hitting the wicket...?

I can't work it out.... :) :) :)

My guess would be spin bowler - the ball may not have enough speed to go through the stumps, but just bounces off, hence the very upward trajectory of the bails.

If that is right, poor choice of shot. If I am wrong, well, go Australia

Thats pretty much my explation. The stumps were in the ground quite tightly. Definately no photoshops here guys.

2nd is spectacular!

I agree it has to be a spinner - he has managed to get well down the track - although not in text book forward defensive position!

Haven't you seen the text book "How not to bat" (written by an Englishman, methinks).

In the first, the left elbow needs to be a tad higher, in the second, the batsman played the wrong line I think, use the feet and get down the pitch son...

Nice clear shots.

Wow!! Great shots Nick. I was going to post a photo I took last weekend with bails in a similar position to the 2nd, but these make mine look very ordinary indeed :(

The lusting continues unabated...

Sweet. It's that time of year again :)

The second shot is fantastic. Your timing is brilliant, but the batsman's is shocking. :)

It's hard to get good images of cricket even with a 500mm lens, so i reckon you have done really well to get them.
